Local photographers say that Daniel Island’s Smythe Park is one of the best spots to shoot keepsake family photos. Located at 2394 Daniel Island Drive, Smythe offers a serene setting with a variety of natural backdrops and soft, dreamlike reflections from its central pond. Turtles, birds, and other wildlife that frequent the park are often willing to pose for a photo too!

The Island’s Gathering Place

At 22 acres, it’s the island’s largest park and features an 11-acre pond dotted with idyllic statues of children playing on the bank, marsh grasses, and diverse landscaping. Smythe offers walking paths, a kayak dock, and a history trail. The Daniel Island community hosts several events at the park, like the annual Independence Day celebration with a golf cart parade and live music, a movie under the stars, and the neighborhood pumpkin display.

Right behind Smythe, children will delight in playing at the Pirate Park, where they can board a massive wooden ship and safely walk the plank! Or they can climb to the top of a lighthouse, and then slide down.
